Trade Committee Reorganization and Objectives

Oct 20, 2010

Under the leadership of Jose Acosta, UPS, CLADEC’s trade committee has established its new objectives for 2010/2011. First in the agenda for the committee will be to identify Intra-Latin America Trade Agreements and opportunities to bring to the attention of the CLADEC Board as well as the individual Companies and Members. The idea is to focus on tangible opportunities to facilitate trade in the short and medium term.

Another objective is to identify barriers and anti-competitive practices that present challenges to the industry and prepare proactive strategies to address them. The committee will also work on strengthening alliances with the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington to facilitate the building of alliances at the in-country level, advocating the Promotion of Trade Facilitation Practices and leveraging the Global Express Association (GEA) efforts on Trade Facilitation.
